Bowhead whales only live in arctic waters. Bowhead whales are extremely large animals,they weigh 60-80 tons, and are 15 meters long. Bow head whales are known as the jazz singers of the sea because they have complex vocal ranges.

Bow head whales are being threatened by climate change as well as injuries from humans. Climate change is warming up arctic water and orcas have recently been discovered to attack bowhead whales. Bowhead whales are also getting tangled in commercial fishing gear. Because of these threats there are only 10,000 mature bowhead whales in the wild. Bowhead whales mostly feed in the summer and fall and they mate in March. Females reach maturity when they are 13.4 meters long and about 25 years old. Bowhead whales can live over 200 years old.
Bowhead whales like to feed on, zooplankton, twelve different species of copepods, small crustaceans, 2 types of krill, arctic cod, benthic invertebrates, species on the ocean floor, epibenthic invertebrates, species that live above the ocean floor.
